BATIK

The batik is a millenarian art of controversial origin where the drawing is made with hot wax and colored with ink. The basic technique consists on the dying after the waterproofing of certain parts of the screen (pure silk, cotton or leather). The areas covered with wax are waterproof and don't retain the dying. With the help of the wax and successive baths of ink, the nuances are overlapped.
